Sara Pappa
Sara Pappa is a Technical Advisor with WI-HER, LLC and is the main focal point for the gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) work on Act ǀ East, where she manages and provides GESI technical support to the program, partners, and national, subnational, and community-level stakeholders in Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Haiti, helping them to reach the last mile in NTD elimination by identifying and addressing GESI barriers and opportunities in access to, and acceptance of, NTD treatment and approaches. Sara brings ten years of experience managing and providing GESI technical assistance to USAID health policy, health systems strengthening, and governance and service delivery projects across several health areas. She has extensive experience in health policy development, implementation, and monitoring, as well as advocacy and accountability, and capacity development. Sara has designed and directly supported several GESI assessments and analyses to inform program approaches and activities, and has developed GESI training plans, tools, and other processes to support program partners, local organizations, governments, and other key stakeholders. Sara is skilled in qualitative methods for both GESI assessments and political economy analysis and she has co-authored a series of peer reviewed journal articles focused on GESI integration and evaluation, and postabortion care best practices, and has presented and led interactive sessions on GESI integration, male engagement to improve health outcomes, and gender and scale-up at global conferences. Sara has a MA in International Relations from American University and a BA in Global and Comparative History from Virginia Tech.
