Mozambique

All of the nearly 31 million people living in Mozambique are at risk for at least one neglected tropical disease (NTD). The country is endemic for all five NTDs targeted by USAID’s Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases | East program: lymphatic filariasis (LF), onchocerciasis, trachoma, schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminth infections.
 

Since 2012, USAID has supported Mozambique’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to reach its NTD control and elimination goals, including support for mapping, mass treatment campaigns, and impact surveys needed to measure and track progress. 

Our Focus

Act | East is implemented in Mozambique by RTI International. The program continues USAID’s focus on the elimination of lymphatic filariasis, trachoma, and onchocerciasis from the country, through support for mass treatment campaigns, impact surveys, and dossier development.
